Fever Secure Second Arena Game
West Coast Fever has announced a second Perth Arena fixture for the upcoming ANZ Championship season.
Fever will face a New Zealand side at the inner city venue for the first time, with the round 13 clash against the Central Pulse scheduled for Perth Arena.
The announcement also means Perth Arena will host Fever’s final two home games of the regular season.
Netball WA CEO Simon Taylor welcomed the news.
“To have another opportunity for our fans to fill Perth Arena is certainly exciting,” Taylor said.
“There’s a real thirst for elite level netball here in Perth and you need no further proof of that then last year when we experienced a club record crowd for Fever, and a record crowd for any netball fixture in WA when the Diamonds visited, with both of those games played at Perth Arena.”
The opportunity to play a New Zealand based ANZ Championship side for the first time at Perth Arena is also not lost on the club.
“It’s a chance to engage another section of our netball family here in WA,” Taylor said.
“The Silver Ferns were certainly well represented in the crowd during the Constellation Cup decider, so I’m sure the Pulse will enjoy a similar level of support.”
While Fever are yet to taste success from their three games at the venue, it’s not the daunting record many perceive it to be.
“People are quick to point out our results at Perth Arena but we don’t see that as a hoodoo, on the contrary we consider it a challenge, and one we now have two opportunities to conquer this season,” Taylor said.
“In reality, we hope to be playing a few more games there at the end of the season so we want our players, and our fans, to be comfortable in their surroundings.”
Pre-sale tickets for the Perth Arena games against the Melbourne Vixens and the Central Pulse go on sale Tuesday, with a release to the general public on Thursday.
West Coast Fever will also be offering a special two game membership for the Perth Arena fixtures.
Tickets will be available through Ticketek.
