Our Community Partner, Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia (RMHC), is an essential service for thousands of families with seriously children. Some stay for a night, some for over a year. Their mission is to keep families together during the most difficult of times, providing quality accommodation, professional family support officers, learning programs, a business centre for parents to work remotely, meals, and a range of complementary health and wellbeing services. It is a very special home away from home, because being together is the best medicine of all.

RMHC relies on the generosity of the West Australian community to continue their good work. One initiative that allows local businesses to support the organisation is their meal program: Lovin’ From The Oven. Home cooked food can provide families with comfort, nourishment and a well-deserved break from the stress of caring for a loved one. Program participants prepare baked treats to help make the resident’s lives a little brighter, because after the cake is gone, the memory of the contribution continues to bring a smile to their faces.

On Tuesday 23rd February staff from RAC Arena took to the Nedlands-based house’s commercial kitchen with gusto. The team brought along the ingrediants, and over a couple of hours, prepared a range of delicious treats including choc chip cookies, scones, rhubarb muffins, pasties, and cupcakes.

“We got the chance to step out of the office for the morning and see who the baking superstars at RAC Arena are,” said RAC Arena’s Partnerships Manager, Emma Toovey.

RAC Arena Marketing Manager, Marika Bailey also joined the crew in cooking up a storm.
“The highlight of the day was seeing the children enjoy what we had created and of course meeting Gus the dog, Director of Hugs and Pats.”
