Making A Difference
The unique fundraising activities supporting Community Partner Breast Cancer Care WA have already begun to make a huge difference to the lives of many Western Australian women and their families.
Now in the second year of the two-year community partnership, Perth Arena has supported the charity through a number of dynamic fundraising activities that have assisted the charity to undergo the vital work they do to support those affected by breast cancer in Western Australia.
Launched in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, last year’s Golden Ticket raffle (in which the winner wins two tickets to each event at Perth Arena for 12 months), raised $71,710 for the charity.
Thanks to the generosity of Western Australians, these funds have gone on to positively impact the lives of those affected in the community including:
Providing a few hours house cleaning for 133 of the charity’s clients who are unable to lift anything heavier than a loaf of bread after surgery.
Helping to pay for over 100 utility accounts for families who are struggling financially and need the charity’s assistance to keep their services connected.
Helping stock a pantry and fridge to keep 100 families of four nourished for a week.
Allowing 66 women to receive two pairs of mastectomy bras to help improve their physical and emotional well being.
Giving 40 clients access to specialised therapy sessions when they are struggling to deal with the fear and uncertainty of their diagnosis.
Treating 125 women to a pamper day to help them relax and re-energise during and after treatment.
In addition to the raffle, Breast Cancer Care WA has also received a number of opportunities to raise funds for the charity through Perth Arena. These include donations that have gone on to raise over $6,000 to help fund breast care nursing, counselling and financial assistance; as well as opportunities to treat clients and their families to experiences that allow them to enjoy a chance to relax from their treatment.
The charity’s annual signature fundraising event, the Mad Hatter’s Long Table Lunch 2017, will take place on April 2 and includes a five-course meal, live entertainment, auctions, raffles and premium beverages with all funds raised going towards the cause. Tickets for this special event can be purchased here.
