Murdoch Uni Students Begin Exclusive Internships
As part of Murdoch University’s partnership with Perth Arena, students have access to an exclusive internship program which allows them to step inside of the world of entertainment and gain practical experience applicable to their course of study.
Strategic communications student Nikki has just completed the first Murdoch University internship at Perth Arena with a summer placement at the venue.
Working closely with Perth Arena’s communications team, Nikki worked on dedicated projects which allowed her to utilise insights and practises gained through her degree and apply them to real life scenarios.
“Having this opportunity to gain industry experience at Perth Arena as part of my degree has exceeded my expectations. They’ve given me opportunities to liaise with all kinds of people and work on my own projects, so it’s all helped me to think independently and learn from a professional perspective,” Nikki said.
“What I have achieved during my time here will definitely assist me in completing my degree and hopefully will help me land a career within the field of communications and public relations”.
Two more Murdoch University students are now about to start their placements at Perth Arena for semester 1 in the areas of human resource management and strategic communications/journalism. The students will again work on their own projects under the guidance of Perth Arena staff.
As part of the partnership, Murdoch University will also work with Perth Arena on exciting and innovative research projects with students and alumni also considered preferred applicants for any job openings at the venue.
Murdoch University offers more than 80 majors and 200 courses in the areas of business, law, engineering, technology, science, health, teaching, media and the arts at campuses in Murdoch and Mandurah as well as study centres in Singapore and Dubai.
