Perth Arena hosts first gala ball
Perth Arena hosted its first gala ball in the main arena when unseasonal weather forced a change of venue for the 2017 Variety Ball in February.
In support of Variety the Children’s Charity, the ball which was set to be held outside, welcomed 500 black-tie guests to Perth Arena to wine, dine and dance the night away on the main arena floor.
With five days’ notice, PAV Events joined forces with Perth Arena to embrace the opportunity to turn the venue into an enchanted garden; with lighting, audio, visual and theming.
The who’s who of Perth attended and were greeted in Perth Arena’s main foyer before the main arena was revealed.
Guests enjoyed dinner prepared by executive chef Paul Beard and the Perth Arena culinary team while being treated to entertainment by the Variety Youth Choir, Jaye Yates and local band PROOF.
Perth Arena general manager Michael Scott said the evening was a resounding success for the venue and a major milestone achievement.
“We were very excited to step up to the challenge last minute and host this amazing event in our one-of-a-kind space for the first time,” Mr Scott said.
“It is a pleasure to be able to support this great charity so they can continue their incredible work for the children of WA.
“We had always wanted to host a banquet in the main arena but hadn’t had the opportunity with the busy schedule of events, so it is a major achievement for the team,” he said.
"We were amazed that an event of this scale could be transferred in less than 5 days. This was only made possible because of the team at Perth Arena who went above and beyond to ensure the event ran seamlessly. The atmosphere was superb, the food exceptional and Arena staff were extremely professional and a real pleasure to work with. To be the first ever Gala Ball at Perth Arena was a fantastic experience and something our guests will remember for a long time.’’ Michael Pailthorpe, CEO, Variety – the Children’s Charity.
Just 24 hours prior the Perth Wildcats played their final home game of the regular season on the same floor as the ball. Watch a time lapse video of the changeover at www.facebook.com/pertharena
The ball raised the entire amount to fund the 2018 Variety Scholarships Program and more.
