The McGowan Government has thrown its support behind Australian netball by securing Perth as the host city for the 2022 Suncorp Super Netball League Grand Final.

In yet another sporting coup for Western Australia, the Grand Final will be held at RAC Arena on Sunday July 3.

In addition, the Australian national netball team, the Australian Diamonds, will be based in Perth from July for a training camp ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

WA’s own team, West Coast Fever, is currently second on the ladder and will be vying for a place in the Grand Final over the coming weeks.

Up to 14,000 Grand Final spectators are expected to descend on RAC Arena, one of Australia’s best sporting venues.

The event will bring athletes and visitors from out-of-state, stimulating the local visitor economy and showcasing WA through the live television broadcast.

Supporting sporting events such as the 2022 Suncorp Super Netball League Grand Final is part of the McGowan Government and Tourism WA’s strategy to attract more visitors to the State.

For the first time in the league’s history, there will be prize money for the Grand Final with $100,000 for the winning team and $25,000 for second place, which will further support netball in Australia.

Netball is the biggest participation sport for Australian girls, with more than one million people playing netball across Australia.
