The Update: Coachella 2019

To make sure we’re all on the same page, here’s a quick recap on all things Coachella. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual event that takes place over two weekends in Indio, California. The festival always features some of the biggest names in music, with this year’s headliners including Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Ariana Grande, DJ Snake and Billie Eilish. This is both the event to see and be seen, with celebrities from across the world attending it wearing what can only be described as FASHUN.

So…now we’re all caught up, here’s the latest goss.

Thanks to the YouTube Gods, just because we’re here in Perth, doesn’t mean we can’t live our best Coachella life. YouTube has announced they’re upping their game this year by live streaming the entire event over both weekends – Praise be to YouTube!
As if that in itself is not exciting enough, Guava Island is due to drop as part of YouTube’s live stream! Guava Island started as a trailer in November, starring Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino for those playing at home) and Rihanna. Word on the street is it’s a visual album of new music, April 13 is looking like the release date.

Although the Easter Bunny might not be able to visit without the chocolate eggs melting in the Californian sun, a true Easter miracle has occurred – Kanye has just announced he will be hosting a 9am Sunday Service! Think gospel choirs, classic hits, and previously unreleased tracks. There may even be some of Kanye’s past collaborators getting involved.

To get you through the break in between Coachella weekends, Netflix has teased their latest documentary: Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé. The doco gives an intimate behind-the-scenes look at Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performance. It comes out April 17, and will hopefully lift our spirits now that Beyoncé’s sister Solange has announced she will no longer be performing at this year’s festival, due to “major production delays.”

If patience is not one of your virtues, and two sleeps is too long to wait, start listening to the offish Coachella playlist.
