They Give Us Fever!

These girls sure have got grit! West Coast Fever have made history, locking in their first ever home ground Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final. After clinching a 63-57 win in the major semi-final over the Giants in Sydney, the Fever will be heading back to Perth Arena to face either the Giants or Sunshine Coast Lightning.

Fever’s historic final is set for Sunday August 26, after a well-deserved week’s break. Securing the Grand Final position was no easy task, with star shooter Jhaniele Fowler forced off the court for a quarter by a knee injury during the major semi-final, and centre Verity Charles remaining heavily strapped on her left knee after an injury sustained a week earlier.

Having only won two games last season, and only having experience in one final prior to this year, it has been an incredible season for Captain Courtney Bruce and the team.

“To have a Perth Grand Final, knowing that we are going to walk out into a stadium that is all for us, I think that emotion just really overrode me. It’s been a journey for us. The emotion for all of us is just overwhelming”.

Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich said she was proud to lead the team to their first ever home Grand Final.

“It's so exciting, the girls have worked so hard for so long, 39 weeks of preparation 14 lessons learnt to be able to punch out a game," she said. “To have that defensive pressure across the whole court was what drove our attackers, just the spirit to keep fighting."

Tickets for the Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final go on sale to the public Tuesday 21st August, 10am local time through Ticketek.
