THE UPDATE – APRIL 2023

Take a look at what’s been happening at RAC Arena and ASM Global in April, 2023!

Arijit Singh sings his way into fans hearts & Fever find their way to the top of the ladder
Indian hitmaker, Arijit Singh, performed to his doting Perth fans for the first time at RAC Arena in April, whilst the West Coast Fever were busy cementing their spot on the top of the Super Netball ladder after winning all but one of the six games they’ve played so far this season. The loss they suffered was a narrow one, going down by just 1-point against the Thunderbirds at home. Fever will return to the venue on May 13 to take on the NSW Swifts and then again on May 21 to verse the QLD Firebirds.

RAC Arena wraps up a mega month of giving back
For National Volunteer Month, RAC Arena put together a calendar of activities for staff to participate in as part of ASM Global’s Acts initiative. Over the course of April, team members spent time volunteering to cook at the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Nedlands, spent time taking part in a Lifeline seminar, and donated blood for the Red Cross. To cap off a fulfilling month of giving, staff were invited to bring in their dogs in for the inaugural Pooch Party, where food and homemade items were shared and purchased by staff and funds were raised for the Cancer Council.

Auslan and Autism awareness front and centre in April
Some key dates in the accessibility space fell within last month. World Autism Awareness Day was on April 2nd and offered a great opportunity for us to sit down with one of our community partners, the Autism Association of Western Australia, to shed some light on the work they do and to also discuss their collaboration with the venue on the development of our Quiet Room. You can watch the discussion here.

Later, on April 13th, we released another content piece, this time for Auslan Day, that went over some key terms you may associate with the venue using Australian Sign Language. The video was created with help from our friends Luke and Andrew and can be viewed here.
