Check out all we’ve been getting up to this April!

Autism Awarness Month

Considering April was Autism Awareness Month, this was a great opportunity for us to shed some light on how we are focusing on inclusivity at RAC Arena. We are proud and lucky enough to have worked with our community partner, the Autism Association of WA, for several years now, with an undeniable highlight being the work we did in designing and creating our purpose-built quiet room on level one.

Also in collaboration with the Autism Association of WA, we have developed social stories for patrons to view on our website before visiting the venue, and we continue to offer fidget toys and headphones for patrons to borrow free of charge from our information desk.

For further details on our accessibility features, feel free to check out our website here.

West Coast Fever gets new season underway

The West Coast Fever are off to a flyer to start the new Super Netball season. They got their campaign underway with a win on the road against the GWS Giants, before returning to their home court and notching up a huge W against the Sunshine Coast Lightning one week later. As it stands, they are currently 3-0 to start the year and will next play in front of the Green Army on Friday May 10th, followed by games on the 18th and 26th of May.

If you want to see them in action, you can purchase tickets through Ticketek.

Let’s get ready to rumble!

RAC Arena will be on the world stage come Sunday May 12th when Ukrainian fighter Vasily Lomachenko takes on Australia’s own George Kambosos Jr. for the IBF Lightweight World Title. Fans from near and far will be filling the stands, looking to also watch the WBC Interim Junior Bantamweight World Title and the WBA Bantamweight World Title. Get excited!

Drum and bass takes over

English icons of the drum and bass world, Chase & Status, finished up their time in Australia with a massive show under the Arena roof. The event was a sell-out in our exciting festival mode setup, which was entirely GA and allowed all punters the choice of enjoying the show either standing on the floor or sitting in the stands. Accompanying them was Aussie legend Luude and New Zealand heavy-hitter Mozey, making for one of the most energetic shows we’ve seen.

April Fools!

It’s no secret that we like to have fun here at RAC Arena, so an opportunity like April Fools is one we won’t pass up. We used last year’s April 1st to break the hearts of Perth’s climbing enthusiasts and urban thrill-seekers when we announced the opening of a “Arena Ascent’, a rock-climbing wall on the venue’s façade. This year we decided to go after any fans looking for a peaceful night away.

With that idea, ‘Arena Accommodation’ was born. In this make-belief world, fans would be able to hire and stay in the same Green Room that has hosted some of  the world’s biggest stars including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Harry Styles and many more.

Alas, Arena Accommodation was just an April Fools Day hoax… for now.
