THE UPDATE – MAY 2023

Take a look below at what’s been happening at RAC Arena and ASM Global throughout May!

Cooking up a storm in Concert Club
Chef Stephen Clarke and Rickeeta from Aboriginal Productions were busy throughout the month of May, creating some delicious deserts in the Concert Club kitchen using native bush ingredients. Ahead of Mother’s Day, we released a video and recipe for Wattle Seed and Macadamia Pancakes, then backed it up later in the month with some Macadamia Nut Biscuits with Quandong Jam and Honey Butter Cream on National Biscuit Day.

Take a look at the recipes under the News section on our website and watch the pancake video here and biscuits video here.

Fever are looking strong in the lead up to finals
The West Coast Fever had two home games throughout the month of May, with another two remaining before they gear up for the SSN Finals. Their first game of the month was a narrow 1-point loss at the hands of the Swifts, however, one week later they bounced back with a very convincing 34-point victory against the Firebirds. If the Fever do make it to the big dance like they did last year, it unfortunately won’t be played here at home after Melbourne was confirmed to be hosting the Grand Final in 2023.

National Reconciliation Week
From May 27 until June 3 was National Reconciliation Week. It is important for all Australians to use NRW learn about history, culture, and how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation within this country.
Throughout the week, we were lucky enough to sit down with some of the staff and alumni of one of our community partners, the Polly Farmer Foundation, to get to know them a little bit more and find out what National Reconciliation Week means to them. Take a look at the videos over on our YouTube channel.
Internally, our team got together for a NRW morning tea and a few staff members were lucky enough to participate in a Walk for Reconciliation at Kings Park.

ASM Global continues to support Mental Health across the APAC region
Earlier in the month, it was confirmed that another 12 team members from the ASM Global APAC region have completed Mental Health First Aid training. This brings the total number of employees that have completed the training to 35, as ASM Global works towards a goal of having 100 Mental Health First Aiders across the region in the not-too-distant future.

Our events calendar just keeps getting bigger and bigger!
Our calendar was bolstered massively in May. Two new events were announced for September this year. Shoes and streetwear convention, Sneakerland, will be returning for the third time on the 2nd, followed by a new festival-style hip-hop event, Light It Up, on September 6th. Further exciting announcements included the addition of Emmy and Grammy award-winning artist, 50 Cent, on December 2nd and Matchbox Twenty and Goo Goo Dolls will take to the stage in February 2024. Exciting times are ahead!
