RAC Arena’s Limelight supports West Australian musical talent
For the fourth consecutive year, RAC Arena is once again giving local musicians the chance to step into the spotlight with the return of Limelight, a hyper local music support fund presented by RAC Arena and supported by West Australian Music (WAM).
Continuing the venue’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent, Limelight supports the winning Western Australian act with financial, performance and promotional opportunities.
First introduced in 2022 as part of the Arena’s 10th anniversary celebrations, WA rising stars Alter Boy, Angie Colman, Riley Pearce, Those Who Dream, Anna Schneider, GIA COMO and The Kickons have received support from the initiative.
One lucky musician will be awarded the main package worth over $25,000, with two runner ups receiving financial and promotional support valued at $3,000 each.
The main prize includes:
- $5,000 financial assistance thanks to RAC Arena
- Live performance at Telethon 2026
- Radio campaign thanks to Nova Entertainment
- Music equipment thanks to Mega Music and Yamaha
- Recording studio time and rehearsal space thanks to Vision Studios
- Inclusion in the 2026 WAM Showcase line-up and weekend pass to WAMCon 2026 thanks to West Australian Music
- Promotional support via RAC Arena’s marketing channels
Emerging WA musicians aged 18 and older are invited to apply from November 3-16, outlining their goals for 2026, and how the fund will assist them in achieving this outcome.
The 2025 winners will be selected by a panel of industry professionals, including RAC Arena’s general manager Michael Scott, WAM’s CEO Owen Whittle, RTRFM producer and presenter Pamela Boland and PLAY magazine editor Belle Taylor.
The recipient of last year’s main prize, emerging alt-rock band The Kickons, are grateful for the positive impact it’s already had on their career:
The Kickons band member, Tom Quick said, “Winning Limelight has been such an awesome opportunity. It’s a great initiative for local artists, and the team is super lovely. Limelight went beyond just winning an award. It opened doors and gave us experiences we’d never have had any other way at this early stage in our careers. The team at RAC Arena has been amazing, and we’ve learnt so much.”
WAM’s CEO, Owen Whittle says, “Local music can too often get drowned out by technology and algorithms, which is why Limelight seeks to elevate and promote the quality of local music, playing a vital role in highlighting the exceptional local artists to The West Australian public.”
RAC Arena general manager Michael Scott echoes this sentiment stating, “It’s been wonderful to witness this year’s winners make great strides towards building a successful career in music. We’re incredibly proud to be able to help support the talented local artists we have here in WA.”
Michael continues saying, “It’s a thrill to watch the music community thrive in our state. I’m thankful that we can once again invite applications for support in 2026 and encourage all aspiring local musicians to apply through our website.”
To enter the Limelight music support fund for 2026, head to RAC Arena’s website from Monday 3 November www.racarena.com.au.
Applications close at 8am AWST on November 16, 2025, and the winner of Limelight will be announced in early December 2025.
